Nick Hamilton

Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer

Nick was appointed Managing Director and CEO of Challenger Limited in January 2022 and has held a number of senior executive roles at Challenger since joining in 2015, including Chief Executive, Funds Management and General Manager of Fidante Partners. During his time as Chief Executive of the Funds Management business, Nick made significant progress on a number of key growth initiatives including securing a host of high-quality partnerships and leading the expansion of the business globally.

Nick has 25 years’ industry experience gained across Australian and international markets and has successfully led top tier global equity and multi-asset businesses both in Australia and the UK. Prior to joining Challenger, Nick held senior leadership roles at Colonial First State and Invesco.

Chris Plater

Deputy Chief Executive Officer

Chris was appointed Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Challenger in August 2021. Chris is also Chief Executive, Operations and Technology, and Chair of the Challenger Life Investment Committee. As Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Chris also takes leadership of Challenger’s Corporate Development & Strategy function. Chris joined Challenger in 2003 and has served in a variety of key leadership roles including Chief Executive and Chief Investment Officer for the Life business. Prior to joining Challenger, he worked at Bankers Trust, Commonwealth Bank of Australia, Lehman Brothers and Zurich Capital Markets in a variety of financial markets roles in Sydney and London.

Rachel Grimes AM

Chief Financial Officer

Rachel joined Challenger in May 2021 as its Chief Financial Officer. Prior to this, Rachel was General Manager, Finance at Westpac Banking Corporation, and held other senior roles at the bank, including Director of Mergers & Acquisitions. Rachel has 30 years of commercial experience and has held leadership positions across financial services and the accounting profession globally. Rachel is the current Director of Accounting for the Professional & Ethical Standards Board and is the Deputy Chair of Digital Finance CRC (Cooperative Research Centre).

Stuart Kingham

Chief Commercial Officer

Stuart was appointed Challenger's Chief Commercial Officer in February 2022 and is responsible for bringing together the best of Challenger’s businesses and group functions to drive innovation and deliver great commercial outcomes. Stuart joined Challenger in 2012 and was previously Head of Investor Relations. Stuart has over 25 years’ professional experience and has worked across investment banking and senior finance roles, specialising in financial services and wealth management.

Mark Ellis

Chief Executive, Bank
Mark Ellis joined Challenger in 2021 as Chief Executive, Bank after Challenger acquired MyLifeMyFinance digital bank in July 2021. Mark has over 35 years work experience in various financial institutions in senior management and executive positions, with responsibility for domestic and international functions in both Australian and overseas banks. Mark holds a Bachelor of Business, Banking, Corporate Finance and Securities Law from Monash University.

Peter Schliebs

Chief Investment Officer, Life

Peter was appointed Chief Investment Officer of Challenger Life in August 2021 and has day to day responsibility for managing the assets and liabilities of the company. Since joining Challenger in 2003, Peter has held a number of senior investment roles, including overall responsibility for Challenger Life’s real asset investments and insurance risk strategy. Prior to joining Challenger, Peter held a variety of financial market roles with Zurich, Macquarie Bank and Bankers Trust.

Catherine van der Veen

Catherine was jointly appointed General Manager, Strategy and Growth alongside Lucy Foster in February 2021 and oversees the development and delivery of strategic plans and projects across Challenger’s retail and institutional businesses. Together they bring a combined 40 years’ of experience in financial services. Prior to joining Challenger, Catherine worked at BT, Westpac, CBA and Generation Life and held senior roles across the banking and wealth industry in Sydney, Boston, London and Singapore.

Lucy Foster

General Manager, Strategy and Growth
Lucy was jointly appointed General Manager, Strategy and Growth alongside Catherine van der Veen in February 2021 and oversees the development and delivery of strategic plans and projects across Challenger’s retail and institutional businesses. Together they bring a combined 40 years’ of experience in financial services. Prior to joining Challenger, Lucy worked at CBA, Generation Life, Standard Life and KPMG and brings a depth of knowledge and understanding across product development, strategy and business transformation.
Victor Rodriguez

Victor Rodriguez

Head of Fixed Income

Victor joined Challenger Investment Management in April 2017 as Head of Fixed Income and has considerably grown the business including establishing a series of income-focused funds for institutional and retail clients. Prior to joining Challenger, he held other senior roles including Head of Asia Pacific Fixed Income at Aberdeen Asset Management in Singapore and Deputy Head of Fixed Income at Credit Suisse Asset Management in Australia. Victor holds a Bachelor of Economics from Sydney University and a Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance and Investment from FINSIA.
